Membership

We are pleased about your interest in becoming a member. In principle, any person or company from the Life Sciences sector or with an interest in automation in the Life Sciences sector can become a member of ELRIG.de e.V.

Concept

ELRIG.de is a platform for exchanging experience and knowledge for all those interested in automation in the Life Sciences sector. All groups are explicitly addressed, including users, manufacturers, industry, and academia.

Today, laboratory robotics are far more than what they were when LRIG was founded in the early 90s. Robotics now includes all automation solutions, including software, standardized materials, and applications within the laboratory. This naturally increases the number of questions surrounding their use, from the application to be automated to the selection of suitable devices, to quality assurance and validation.

Textbook knowledge can only inadequately convey these complex processes and questions; practical experience is indispensable in many cases. ELRIG.de sees itself as a hub for experience exchange, particularly through various, always free events on selected topic areas.

History

ELRIG.de e.V. is the independent German chapter of LRIG (Laboratory Robotics Interest Group), founded in the USA in the early 1990s. Following the great success of LRIG in the USA and the European section (ELRIG) founded in the UK in 2001, the German chapter ELRIG.de was then established in 2006.

The number of LRIG members worldwide has now grown to over 14,000 people. Through cooperations with world-renowned industrial research and development companies, our forums have unique insights to that of traditional academic meetings. Our network of scientists, developers, and companies from both academia and industry are the backbone of our organization. This borderless participation at our free, yearly forum has helped to establish ELRIG.de as the premier organization in the DACH region for laboratory robotics and automation.

Association and Structure

The European Laboratory Robotics Interest Group Germany e.V. is a legal association founded in 2006 and registered under VR 5037 at the Offenbach am Main District Court.

Unlike other countries, ELRIG.de therefore also has association members and membership fees from which the association finances its work. The association does not pursue economic interests. All members work on a voluntary, unpaid basis.

We have the certificate of non-profit status from the responsible tax authority.

Excerpt from Statutes:

"The purpose of the association is to promote science, research, and education. The goal is to create an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of knowledge, experience, and opinions on a scientific basis with researchers, users, designers, and manufacturers in the field of laboratory automation to promote innovative concepts."

Bodies of Our Association

The General Assembly The general assembly consists of the natural and legal persons of the regular members. The General Assembly meets once a year where members elect the authorized board for the next term, elect the representatives of the scientific advisory board, confirm the yearly budget, and vote on the direction of activities.

The Scientific Advisory Board The sientific advisory board consists of several people who are all actively involved with automation solutions. Users with different backgrounds and fields of work are represented, such as chemists, engineers, biologists, pharmacologists from the fields of science, research, and industry. The task of this independent body is primarily to define the scientific and practical topic areas for the activities of ELRIG.de e.V.

The Board of Directors The board of directors consists of at least three people, represents ELRIG.de e.V. externally and bears legal responsibility within the framework of activities. Upon request, we will be happy to send you a copy of the statutes by email: w.peters@elrig.de
